Forj is happy to offer a new User Segmentation feature that will allow Admins to group Learners into specific Segments for a more personalized Member experience. These segments can include the Member Tier, Groups, or user profile fields like location, and multiple filters can be combined to define precise audiences. Rather than treating all Learners or Members the same, Segmentation enables targeted experiences that align content, messaging, and recognition to the right audience. Note that Segments will update dynamically as user data changes.
There are three steps to the setup process. First you will need to define your Segments during setup, then you can create Credit Types for those specific Segments of users, and then when creating a Course, those Segmented Credits are added to the Awards page. Follow the steps in the sections below to setup the User Segmentation feature.

SETUP SEGMENTATION
Segmentation can be setup using filters based on Member Registration Form profile fields, their Membership Tier, or their Groups. Note that multiple filters can be used to create a singular Segment.
Follow the steps below to setup Segmentation:
- Navigate to the Community Menu.
- Select Community Settings.
- Select Segmentations.
- Click Add Segmentation.
- Enter the Segmentation name into the textbox.
- Click Add a filter to determine the fields for the segmentation.
- Select a filter type from the dropdown menu. Note that multiple filters can be added to create a Segmentation.
- For User Field: Select from the Field dropdown menu of Registration Form profile fields, and then enter the Value.
- For Membership Tier: Select the Membership Tier(s) for the Segmentation.
- For Group Membership: Select the Group(s) for the Segmentation.
SETUP CREDIT TYPE SEGMENTS
Segmentation is available within Credit Type setup, enabling Admins to define which Learners qualify for specific Credit Types or Certificates within a Course. Follow the steps below to setup a Credit Type that is only offered for a Segment of Learners.
- Navigate to the Community Menu.
- Select Community Settings.
- Select Learning.
- From the Learning section, scroll down to Credit Types.
- Click the Add Credit Type link.
- Enter the Credit Name and Abbreviation.
- Enter Accreditation Statement, Accreditor Logo, or Provider ID if desired.
- From Limit eligibility, select the Segment of Learners who will be able to earn the Credit Type.
- Click the Add button.
SETUP SEGMENTED COURSE AWARDS
Segmentation is available within Courses to provide the right Credits to the right Segment of users. Follow the steps below to setup the Course Awards page to include user Segmentation.
- Navigate to the desired Course.
- Select the Awards page.
- Click the Add Credit link from the Credits section.
- Select the segmented Credit Type from the dropdown menu.
- Enter the credit hours.
- Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
- Preview the Segmented user Certificate by selecting the Segment(s) from the dropdown menu.
