Netforum User Management Provider

The User Management Provider is a separate configuration area from Authentication. While Authentication controls how Members log in, the User Management Provider controls how Member profile data and Group membership stay in sync with NetForum on an ongoing basis. Community Admins configure the User Management Provider from Community Settings.

  • Navigate to Community Settings > User Management Provider.
  • Click Add Provider.
  • Select NetForum from the list of available providers.

  • Enter the Site URL for the NetForum instance.
  • Enter the xWeb Username and xWeb Password.
  • Enter the Namespace for External User IDs. Journey by Forj suggests a default value for this field, which Community Admins can accept or edit.
  • Select an option from the Sync User Handling dropdown.

The Sync User Handling dropdown includes the following options:

  • Update Existing Only updates profile data only for Members who already have an account in the Community.
  • Create with External Group Sync creates new Community Member accounts and syncs their Group membership from NetForum.
  • Create with Profile Sync creates new Community Member accounts and syncs their profile fields from NetForum.

  • Enable the NetForum Committee to Group Sync toggle to automatically map Groups to NetForum Committees. Enabling this toggle reveals additional fields, described below.
  • Enter the NetForum Committee External ID Namespace. Journey by Forj suggests a default value for this field, which Community Admins can accept or edit.
  • Select a Default Group that Members are automatically added to when connecting for the first time.
  • Under Fields Mapping, click Add Mapping for each Forj Community field to populate from NetForum (for example, mapping First Name to the external field ind_first_name, and Last Name to ind_last_name).
  • Click Save.
