Below are Group Visibility setting explanations for where the Group will be visible in the platform as well as who can view the Group.
- Anyone: The Group will be listed on a Member's Journey by Forj Home page. The Group will also be a Suggested Group for Members to join.
- Anyone logged into [Community Name]: Only members inside your Community can view the Group and apply to join. The Group will be visible as a Suggested Group for the Members on the left navigation bar. Members can apply to join the Group if they choose, but the Group will not be listed on a Member's Journey by Forj Home page.
- Members of specific groups in [Community Name]: Only Members of ANY of the specific selected Group(s) will be able to view as a Suggested Group in the left navigation bar and on the Home page.
- Only people invited to [Group Name] The Group will not be visible as a Suggested Group in the left navigation bar or on the Home page. Only Members invited or added to the Group will be able to join and have access. This is considered a private Group.
- Only managers and moderators: The Group will not be visible to regular Members as a Suggested Group in the left navigation bar or on the Home page. Only Admins will be able to join and have access. This is considered a private Admin Group.
MEMBER APPROVAL
Admins decide if new Members need approval to join a Group, and this determines what happens when a Member applies to the Group.
If Require a manager to approve new members is toggled off, then after a Member fills out the Registration form, the Member will join the group immediately.
If Require a manager to approve new members is toggled on, then even if the Member can fill out the Registration form, a Manager will receive their Pending application and can decide whether to approve the new Member.
Note that if a Group doesn't require approval to join, it means anyone can share the link to other members of the Community so they can join right away. We recommend setting Require a manager to approve new members if that access should be blocked.
MEMBER PERMISSIONS
Follow the steps below to setup Group Member Permissions:
- Navigate to the desired Group.
- Click the three dot icon.
- Select Settings.
- Select Member Permissions.
Admins can decide if Members have permissions to View member profiles, View member email addresses, or Invite members to the Group.
Note that if Members are allowed to invite new Members, this overrides the Group Visibility settings.
