Starting a Chat message with other Members is a helpful tool for engaging, building relationships, and gathering information. Whether it's to initiate a conversation, make plans, ask a question, or share information; private and Group Chats help you stay connected.

START A CHAT
Follow the steps below to start a Chat.
- Navigate to the Members List.
- Find the Member you wish to message.
Reach out via the chat icon, the message button, or create a new conversation via the Conversations section of the Navigation menu. All options are shown below.
- Click the chat icon from their Member card.
- Click on the Member card to reach out via the Message button.
- Click the Conversations plus sign to search for and Select a specific Member.
This will open the chat, and allow you to begin typing a message.
You can also start and respond to Chats via our Mobile App or email.
PRIVATE CHAT VIA EMAIL
To start a chat via email you will need the Member’s Community address.
Chat emails are sent from firstname.communityname@members.mobilize.io
In the Professional and Organization tiers with email branding, emails are sent from firstname.lastname@members.yourbrand.com.
START A GROUP CHAT
Sometimes it is beneficial to have multiple individuals involved in a Chat conversation, and Group Chats can have up to 50 members!
Follow the steps below to start a Group Chat.
AS A NEW CHAT
- Click the Conversations plus sign and select multiple Members to begin the Chat.
- Selected recipients will show at the bottom of the popout.
- Click the Select button once you have selected all recipients.
FROM AN EXISTING CHAT
- Enter the Chat.
- Click the Conversation dropdown menu.
- Select Add Members.
- Select the Members for the Chat.
- Selected recipients will show at the bottom of the popout.
- Click the Select button once you have selected all recipients.
This will begin a new Group Chat outside of the private conversation you were already having. The full number of individuals in the Chat (including you) is listed at the top of the page.
Note that when sending a private Chat, there may be up to a 5-minute delay for anyone who was recently active in the platform. If they viewed the message, an email will not be sent to the Member. However, if the message remains unread, an email will be sent to the Member.
