To make a Zap with Mobilize, you'll need to log in to Zapier (or create an account). From the home page, click the "Create Zap" button.
When making the Zap, you can decide whether you want Mobilize to be the trigger app or the action app. Either way, you'll need to connect your Mobilize account to Zapier.
To do this:
- Copy your API key and Secret Key from your Mobilize community page.
- Paste it into Zapier when prompted for your credentials (they are not asking for your Mobilize username and password)
How to get my API key
Warning: do not share your API key with anyone, it's effectively a password that allows access to all your databases. If you accidentally reveal your API key, you should regenerate your API key as soon as possible.
To find your API key, navigate to your Community Settings. At the left navigation bar, click on Integrations.

Click on Create an API key, and name it Zapier.
Before you Save...
Before you click on the button Okay, please make sure to save the Application Key and Secret Key in a safe place. They will not be visible afterward. If you haven't completed the sync yet, you can delete the key and create it again to get the Application Key and Password.

Example: Creating a Zap with Mobilize as the trigger (example: create a new Salesforce contact whenever a new member is added to a group)
After connecting your Mobilize account and your Salesforce account with Zapier, you will create a Zap that makes Zapier regularly look for new records in a specified Mobilize group. For each of those new members, the Zap adds new contacts to SalesForce.
From the Zapier dashboard, under the "Zaps" tab, click the "Create Zap" or "+ Create" button.
You'll then be brought to the Zap configuration page, where you can name your Zap.
Step 1: Set up the trigger (Mobilize)
The first step of any Zap is to set up a trigger. In this case, we would like Mobilize to trigger an action (sending an email)—so Mobilize would be considered the trigger app.
After selecting Mobilize as the trigger app, you will be prompted to choose the specific conditions for activating the trigger. In this case, we want the Zap to run whenever a new member is added.
The next step is to connect your Mobilize account to Zapier (or select an already connected Mobilize account). Note that if you want to connect your Mobilize account, you will need to have your API key.
To connect your Mobilize account use your API Application Key as the Username and the Secret Key as the Password.
For the last part of the first step, Zapier will ask you to test your trigger. If everything works, you'll be prompted to move on to the next step of your Zap.
Step 2: Set up the action
For the second step, you'll be asked to pick an action app. In this action, you will pick Salesforce.
You'll then be asked to select an action for Salesforce to take. There are a variety of potential options, but for our purposes, we want to pick "Create Contact".
The next step is to connect your Salesforce account to Zapier (or select an already connected Salesforce account).
After that, you'll need to set up the template for the contact. There are several customization options here, but at a minimum, you'll need to specify the last name of the new contact. Zapier knows to load all customized fields from your account.
When composing the contact template for your action step, you can incorporate specific parts (variables) of the incoming data from Mobilize into the template. These variables can be added to the Zapier fields by clicking on the variable button next to each Zapier field (which resembles some lines with a circular plus button inside it). When in the Zapier fields, each variable appears in a gray rounded rectangle shape.
Once you're done creating the email template, click the blue "Continue" button. Zapier will create a test contact for you before you're done completing the step so you can check to see if everything looks good.
Once everything's set, click the blue "Test action" button, and then you'll be prompted with the "Publish Zap" button.
If you haven't already done so, Zapier will also prompt you to give your Zap a name. Then you can turn it on. Congrats! You've set up a Mobilize <> Salesforce integration!
