Forj is happy to announce a that we've enhanced our Moderation capabilities. Community Managers can scan for toxic content and detect undesired words or phrases. These Moderation enhancements help track Member-generated content by automating content flagging, centralizing Moderation tools, improving transparency for Members, and making workflows simpler. Moderation allows Community Managers to maintain a safe and organized Community environment.
Note that this feature is not yet available for all applications.

COMMUNITY MODERATION SETTINGS
Follow the steps below to access the new Moderation features:
- Navigate to the Community Menu.
- Select Community Settings.
- Select the Moderation tab.
This will display all of the Organization wide Moderation Settings.
The Flagging section allows for scanning text for toxicity using AI, and/or checking text for specific words or phrases.
The Actions section displays the queue for moderators once content has been flagged.
SCAN TEXT FOR TOXICITY USING AI
This feature uses AI to flag all posts, comments, and replies containing toxic content as determined by a Forj-hosted toxicity model.
- Toggle the Scan text for toxicity using AI button on to activate.
Note that while the Moderation enhancements make use of AI in the Forj Connect platform, we are using a pretrained model hosted by Forj. This means that your data never leaves our system, is not shared with any third parties, and we are not using your data to retrain the model.
CHECK TEXT FOR SPECIFIC WORDS OR PHRASES
This feature checks all Posts, comments, and replies against a custom list of watch words or phrases determined by Community Admins.
- Toggle the Check text for specific words or phrases button on to activate.
- Enter text into the New watch phrases text box.
- Enter a comma-separated list to create multiple watch words or phrases at once.
- Click the Add button.
The list of watch words and phrases will be displayed.
- Click the X icon to remove a watch word or phrase.
QUEUE FOR MODERATORS
When content is flagged, it is added to a queue for Moderators to review. Moderators can choose to allow the content to be posted, or block it and message the author. Moderators will also be alerted via email.
There are several locations that will direct to flagged content:
From Actions section on the Moderation Settings page
- Navigate to the desired Group.
- Click the Group Gear icon.
- Select the Moderation tab.
- Click the queue for moderators link.
From within a Group
- Navigate to the specific Group.
- Click the wrench icon.
- Select Pending Approval.
From an Email
- Click the Review post or Review comment button.
DECLINE OR APPROVE CONTENT
Once the Moderator or Manager accesses the Pending Approval page, they can take action.
- Click the Decline button to block the content.
- Click the Approve button to allow the content and publish to the Feed.
- Click View post link to view the entire Post before making a decision.
Once an action is taken, an alert will display.
- Click the Undo button to reverse your decision.
MEMBER VIEW
Members will receive notification emails informing them that their content was flagged for Moderation, and when it is approved or blocked. They can opt out of these emails from their Profile Settings.
Members also have the option to edit or delete their content while it awaits Moderation.
Flagged Posts
Flagged Posts will appear for them at the top of their Group Feed.
Members can click the three dot icon to Edit or Delete their Post.
Flagged Comments
Members will be alerted that their comments have been submitted for review. They are also provided a link to view their pending comments.
Members can click the three dot icon to Edit or Delete their comments.
GROUP MODERATION SETTINGS
It is possible for each Group to have different Moderation settings than the Organization.
Follow the steps below to access the new Group Moderation features:
- Navigate to the desired Group.
- Click the Group Gear icon.
- Select the Moderation tab.
Note that Organization wide settings will display, along with any watch words or phrases.
- Click the option to Override organization settings if desired.
